Sightseeing in the centre of London
Today Bryan (an old, very nice man from the church - our english grandfather) took us (Adrian and myself) to the centre of London for a day of sightseeing.
We started off by taking the tube from Alperton to St. Pauls, where we started the tour.
This is the St.Pauls cathedral. It's a beautiful cathedral, the biggest in London, built some time after the great fire of London in 1666. We took the stairs to the gallery (around 300 stair steps), and then another 100 to get a look of the view from the roof. We could see all of the centre of London + more! The view
From the Millenium Bridge, we saw the river Thems, with the Tower Bridge in the background:
Then we walked up Fleet Street up to Sumerset House, the huge house the Duke of Sumerset had built for himself some hundred years ago. Sumerset house (quite a size for a house, won't you say?)
Then we took the bus to Westminster Abbey, another beautiful church. There used to live munks there, but now it's a normal church. Both: Westminster Abbey
Across the road you can find the Houses of Parliament; The house of commons and The house of Lords:And - on the clock tower to this building, is the famous clock BIG BEN! (did you know Big Ben is not the tower itself, but the clock?)
Me in front of Big Ben..
Then we walked towards Buckingham Palace. On the way we passed the Queens stable or something like that, just in time for the change of guards.
One of the guardsThen we carried on towards Buckingham Palace, walking through the St. James' park, witch is a royal park, and there a squirrel came up to me.
Curious squirrel
Then we got to the Buckingham Palace, witch originally was the huge house of an other duke before is was overtaken by the Royal family some time in the 17th century. This was of course the Duke of Buckinghams palace.
The Queen was not at home, because she is in Scotland this time of the year.Buckingham palace
In the end I'll have to post another typical thing here in London, this one:
We had a really nice day, travelling for 7 (!) hours in total. Thanks to Bryan for a really great day and a brilliant history lesson!

Work out!
Yes, we've signed up at the local gym, and now we have started working out!
I just have to say something about the gym:
*For three months I will have my own personal trainer.
*They'll do a health check after each session to measure my progress.
*Really nice areas
*I can go to classes like aerobics, abs, tae kwon do, spinning and so on.
*I got three sunbed sessions, each 20 min. for free
*I can use their sauna and aroma therapy.
*The wardrobes and showers are nice.
*The sales manager also gave me a backpack, a towel, two freesbees, some tennis balls, a bottle, key chain and some more stuff...
So today I've spent too much money, but it's for my own health, so it's really an investment in my life.

Today
There's no limits for how many new things I'll experience here in London, and I'm really looking forward to it.
These are the things I have done for the first time today:
1) Been to a funeral (there was a funeral in the church, and the vicar told us to come. We also helped set up for the seremony)
2) Seen a dead person (open coffin in the funeral, and it's normal to show respect to the family (this one was a family from Barbados) by greeting the dead)
3) Used my Oyster card, witch is a card you use for travelling here in London.
4) Taken the famous dubble decker London-bus, here is a pic from the upper deck:5) Been to Primark, witch is a store like H&M, very cheap! I bought a pair of jeans to the nice price £8 = 80 NOK.
6) Bought an English SIM-card! My new mobile number is +4407531343825. I'll write this in a new post as well, so it'll be easier to find later.
Well, that's what I've been up to today. Tomorrow we'll try to sign up for a gym nearby.. Hope you had a lovely day as well:)
Bless you!

Momentum 2008
So, what is 3500 youth in the same place worshiping God? And a tent bigger than any tent I've seen before? Add some rain, a cooking tent with a stove, mud all over, good friends, and the best chocolate cake I've ever tasted, and you'll get MOMENTUM 2008!
This is us (except from Adrian, who was taking the picture) on our way to momentum. Thanks to our driver (and guide) Michael!
We passed the famous Stonehedge on our way to Bath. I was a bit dissappointed it wasn't bigger than it looked like from a distance.
This is the huge tent, while we were taking it down to move it. Have you ever seen a tent like this?
If you want to read more about Momentum, Adrian will be writing an article for NMS on it. So I don't bother to write more unless I really feel like doing it another time..

London, here I am!
I've now arrived London, for about 27 hours ago, so I've had tome to settle a little bit. (Actually, right now all my things are on top of my bed, so I'm not that settled yet).
Here I'll just make some sum ups about the most important things I've done/seen/learned so far:
England...
is a great country, as far as I have seen. Outside London, from the airplane, I just stared out the window, looking at all the big mansions and fields. And it's all flat!
London...
is a big city, about the same size as Lima. The houses are like in the movies and on the TV, and so close that if I stretch out the bathroom window, I can touch the neightbours house. (I haven't tried yet, so there's also a slight chanse I'll just fall out)
The tube system seems genious, though I haven't actually been on the tube yet, but I've taken the bus. The buses are nice, and you can easily get aroud by bus as well. I have to get an Oyster card (is that what it's called?), because that's so much cheeper.
This is the famous dubble decker - the real London bus
The people...
are so nice, I haven't met one unfriendly person yet (I guess there is some limit for how many I possibly could have met in that short amount of time, but still...), and I feel really welcome. My family is so nice! I'll try to post pictures of them later. My family members are Louise (my mum), Shuibu (my dad), and my siblings Benjamin/Ben/Benji who will turn two in September, and Joseph who's 7 months or so. And of course I have to count Adrian, my teampartner and now brother (right, Adrian?;))
The vicar in the church is also a nice man, and we met him and some other church members for some planning today.
The church...
is a place with a lot of activity. The building is from 1992, so it's a nice place to spend time. In the church there are activities every day, and including people renting the rooms, there's even a Irish Dance course and a Tae Kwon Do group in it! The church activities I will be involved in are helping out on sundays with the hindu/urdu service, having sunday school, maybe being involved with a girls bible study group, doing some cleaning and set up for various activities, and so on.. There's a lot to do, and I look forward to getting started!
My room...
looks like this, and it's nice! Adrians room is on the top floor, and it's huge (but at the same time it's colder during the winter.. But since his from the north, he's more used to the cold..)
The journey...
was good, although the baggage people at the airport managed to rip of the handles of my (oh, so NOT expensive bag from Peru). But anyways - I got it back like this:
Luckily I won't be needing it for some time, and it costed like 15 NOK or something, so it's not a big deal...
And I have to write something about Alperton...
which is the area of London that I'm living. I'll try to post some pictures for you later, but if I was going to explain with words, I'd have to say this is like India in London! We didn't see nearly none white people in the streets, and the majority here are from Asia, and countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and actually there's a lot of Polish poeole here too. So this is really a muliticultural area, and I love it! Hopefully I'll find someone from Latin America, so I can practice spanish.
I think that's enough for now. Tomorrow we're going to a student festival in Bath, and we'll be there for some days. More updates will come when I get back! Now I have to go pack...again!

Pictures
I feel this blog has too few pictures, so now I'll come with an update for the whole summer. Afterwards I'll try to write something about me coming to London, because that's where I am right now!
First out is a bbq/ game night we had at Adines, sometime in June..
(I know I swiched to Norwegian, and I'm sorry. I'm a bit confused right now..:p)

I admit it...
Update
I'm really not a fast packer.. My plain leaves in about 13 hours, and my bags are still empty! Think it has something to do with me sitting here writing..? Anyways, now I've started writing in english, something I intend to do the rest of the year, so my international friends, and hopefully the friends I'll make in London, can read my blog.
Sorry to all grandparents that might not understand this, or to the people who doesn't, by any matter, like the fact that I'll keep my blog in English this year...
Well, we'll see about that. At some time I might feel the need to express myself in Norwegian..

Pakking!
*ALT FOR MYE klær.
*Skjerf for kalde høstdager i London
*KRIK-håndkle
*Div toalettartikler

So long!
